My work is functional - meaning I focus on function and form - so that each piece serves a purpose and can be actively used. I work predominantly in high fire stoneware clay bodies and fire my work in gas reduction, salt, and wood kilns. My pottery is almost entirely wheel thrown, with an occasional hand built element. Made in my home in Manhattan and then fired in upstate New York, each piece goes on a physical journey, assuming some risk that makes the reward of the final piece that much greater.
Each piece is unique and one-of-a-kind. And much of my work has a slip trailing design inspired by my son's love of the Ankylosaurus dinosaur.
